Hello!
My name is Amanda and it's lovely to have you here.
I am passionate about turning beautiful new, vintage and reclaimed fabrics into unique, versatile and practical bags. As a busy mum of four I love my sewing times and enjoy creating something every day....even if it's just a mess with my kids in tow!
I love the function and stylishness that a great bag can provide and I'm often caught day-dreaming on what the 'perfect bag' would look like. Sure makes the washing-up go quick!
I began my label 'red pear' in mid-2010, with my new sewing machine and a head full of dreams and ideas. My first range was the 'Melbomba Totes' which showcased Aussie designed and made fabric from Melbomba, Sydney. Check out the gallery to see some pictures.
Fabric for the handbags is sourced from local artists, vintage fairs, overseas designers and sometimes my linen cupboard (if it really needs a clean out!). Reclaimed fabric can make fantastic bags that are soft and have a 'worn-in' look.
The red pear range now includes hand bags, purses, stylish clutches, roomy messenger bags and hopefully soon some nappy bags too!
